This was actually meant as the first blog to ensure the mapping system was working correctly, and because I’d never written one before. However, since then, I’ve decided that it might get lost within the other blogs, so I’ve decided to make it into it’s own section on the right-hand menu.
At this point, I’m hoping to buy my round the world ticket this week, but my social diary is starting to make that quite a challenge. Think a long phone call is required one lunchtime.
What I’m still worried about though, is things like money, injections, and to be honest, how much stuff to take (I’m from Essex, so leaving my loafers behind will be tough!). If you look in the Reading and references page, you’ll find some sites and books that have helped me no end.
I also know a lot of people that have done trips ranging in length between a few months and a year, so talking to them has been invaluable in calming my pre-trip jitters, and in deciding what to do.
One thing I was nervous about was telling work. I have a lot of friends there, and the last thing I wanted to do was annoy them! So, I’ve told them of my plans, and I was amazed once they got past the shock, how supportive they’ve been! I now have so many contacts that’ll help me find work in Sydney it’s frightening! They’ve also told me various places to go, and offered me a job when (and if) I come back to the UK!
So, now I’ve done that, it seems that the momentum can only pickup. I’m also realising how quickly the time is passing! 9 weeks will be gone in no time (boom, boom).
