We couldn’t leave Yeppoon fast enough! We’d eaten and were on the road by 8.30, despite Dan and Chris nursing killer hangovers.

The drive to Airlee Beach was just as boring as the previous days driving – minus the ticket. There’s absolutely nothing to see! We stopped at some backwater town for a rest and some petrol, before continuing the drive. The next time a guide book says a drive is boring, I won’t question them!

We arrived in Airlee Beach at a good time, having driven like the wind. The next few days we were going to be on a boat, so we did a quick bit of shopping, before finding somewhere to eat and drink.

We discovered, that you can’t drink in Australia during Easter weekend, unless your eating at the same time, so every bar stretched the rules to the limit. You bought a food ticket, which entitled you to one hour drinking before food, one hour during food, one after – which could be extended. And guess what… it started raining again!

To add to this, in the move from the rain to a dry table, Chris’ new jumper got involuntarily relocated to someone else’s possession. He was not happy. What made this more annoying/funnier, was that just an hour previously, a woman at the boat shop had been telling how safe Airlee was, and that she sometimes left the door unlocked. We reckon she must have forgotten to mention a BIG dog or something!

Doesn’t matter where in the world you go, there always seems to be a foam party. We decided not to get involved in this one, and opted to drink and laugh at the poor sods coming out covered in smelly foam. Going on some of the expletives being uttered, it was undoubtedly good quality foam!

Our accommodation for the night, was a dorm room with 12 people in it. Curiously, we were the last back again.
